Pfizer Regenerative Medicine is a global unit that will grow in two locations, under the leadership of Ruth McKernan.
In the US, our Regenerative Medicine business is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts at one of Pfizer's small Biotechnology/Biotherapeutic centres. Headed by one of the world's leading stem cell scientists, John McNeish, this unit focuses on using stem cells to develop therapies for cardiac disorders and cancer through in-house research and a vast array of alliances and collaborations. John is also looking to grow his team to 20 scientists in the near future.
Located at Granta Park, Cambridge, the UK arm of Pfizer Regenerative Medicine will grow to 60 scientists over the next two years. This dedicated team focus predominantly on age-related and degenerative disorders with particular interest in common cellular mechanisms and disorders of the central and peripheral nervous system. Pfizer Regenerative Medicine will operate as an independent Research Unit and base it’s stem cell research and drug discovery efforts on a full set of drug discovery capabilities, including In Vivo and Translational Stem Cell Research, Cell & Molecular Biology, and Biological Chemistry. These functions will be complemented by the R&D capabilities and resources Pfizer’s core business has to offer, as well as by an extensive network of alliances and collaborations.
The Pfizer Regenerative Medicine Group has close links to other Research Units in Pfizer including Biotechnology and Biotherapeutic Centres.
